FUSA Travel & Premier Soccer General Information
Travel soccer is for players (and their families) interested in developing their abilities beyond the recreational level through hard work and a commitment to increased levels of soccer training and competition.
Travel soccer requires playing games outside the club in a local league with home matches on Fairfield Parks & Rec fields and with travel to away matches against other clubs in the CT area. Generally speaking, away games are within a 30-45 minute drive although there are a few exceptions. There is also travel to local Tournaments.
As a general rule FUSA holds open tryouts in May/June and forms new travel teams in the summer of each year. Teams are formed for both boys and girls from U9 through U17. U9-U11 age groups typically have four-five teams. U12-U14 age groups typically have two or more teams. Teams compete at various levels within the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA) and Southwest District (SWD) depending upon the competitive and developmental needs of the players involved. In addition, based on recommendations by the club’s professional coaching partners at Ole, FUSA may choose to enter some teams into the Connecticut Club Soccer League (CCSL) or the New York Club Soccer League (NYCSL).
Roster Sizes for the 2018/2019 Seasons:
U9-U10 7v7 12 players max
U11-U12 9v9 15 players max
U13-U17 11v11 18 players max*
The travel team year begins in late August and runs through late June of the following year. The team is selected for a one year commitment. Please note that Players U11-U17 may be placed on either a Premier team or a Travel Team.
*Due to CJSA division adjustments, roster sizes for U14/U15 teams may increase to meet the needs and abilities of our players. If this happens, FUSA will work with Ole to ensure additional developmental opportunities are added so all players benefit and grow.
