The Fairfield United Soccer Association (FUSA) is a non-profit organization run by parent volunteers, in partnership with technical coaching provider. Fairfield United looks to provide an opportunity for youth soccer players in our community to improve their skills, play competitive travel soccer and enjoy the game. We aim to facilitate player development and promote the values associated with youth sports including teamwork, sportsmanship, and local spirit.
Fairfield United currently maintains boys and girls travel soccer teams, for residents of Fairfield only, from the U8 age group up through the U14/U15 age group and into high school.
Travel soccer is for players (and their families) interested in developing their abilities beyond the recreational level through hard work and a commitment to increased levels of soccer training and competition. It is a full year program and a full commitment is required from both players and parents.
Travel soccer requires playing games outside the club in a local league with home matches on Fairfield fields, and with travel to away matches against other clubs in the CT area. Generally speaking, away games are within a 30-45 minute drive although there are a few exceptions. There is also travel to local tournaments.
As a general rule FUSA holds open tryouts in May and forms new travel teams each year. Teams are formed for both boys and girls from U8 through High School. U9-U11 age groups typically have 2-4 teams. U12-U14/15 age groups typically have two or more teams. The number of teams fielded in each age group is primarily based on the number of qualified players who tryout. Tryout evaluations are led and managed by our technical coaching provider, and coordinated with FUSA's Tryout Committee.
Teams compete at various levels within the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA) and Southwest District (SWD) depending upon the competitive and developmental needs of the players involved. League participation may vary from year to year and among age groups, and FUSA may choose to enter some teams into the New York Club Soccer League (NYCSL) and the Elite Development Program (EDP).
